University of Glasgow Medical Interview Preparation

Prepare for your Glasgow Medicine interview with confidence.

Glasgow's Medicine interview is a 30-minute online conversation divided into two sections. You'll discuss your motivation for becoming a doctor, your experiences of teamwork and an ethical scenario that you choose to explore.

Our Glasgow-focused preparation helps you develop thoughtful answers, reflect on your experiences and practise communicating your reasoning with confidence.

Know the format. Prepare for the conversation.

Glasgow provides clear information about how its Medicine interviews are organised. Understanding the structure helps you focus your preparation on the areas the university actually assesses.

Both interviewers cover both sections

Glasgow’s interviews are scheduled between late November 2026 and March 2027, unless otherwise stated.

The interview is conversational: no writing is required, and reading is only needed to choose the Panel B scenario. Interviewers know only your name before the interview.

Two panels. Two different conversations. One opportunity to show your strengths.

Your Motivation & Teamwork

Glasgow explores your motivation to become a doctor, teamwork and related topics.

What MediBrain UK helps you practise

  • Explaining your genuine motivation for medicine
  • Reflecting on teamwork experiences
  • Identifying achievements and skills
  • Discussing personal characteristics
  • Connecting experiences to your understanding of medicine

Develop the confidence to explain why medicine matters to you, what you have learned from your experiences and how you work with others.

Communication & Ethical Discussion

Glasgow asks applicants to read two short ethical scenarios, select one and discuss it with the interviewers. Each scenario is approximately two or three sentences long.

What MediBrain UK helps you practise

  • Reading and understanding a short ethical scenario
  • Choosing which scenario to discuss
  • Identifying the central ethical issue
  • Considering relevant perspectives
  • Explaining your reasoning clearly
  • Responding naturally to follow-up discussion

Learn to approach unfamiliar ethical situations calmly, consider different viewpoints and communicate a reasoned response.

The published Glasgow guidance describes the scenario format without providing the actual interview scenarios in advance. MediBrain UK uses original practice scenarios for teaching.

Build the skills Glasgow asks you to bring to the conversation.

Our preparation follows the areas highlighted in Glasgow's official interview guidance, with practical teaching designed to help you communicate naturally rather than memorise scripts.

Be ready for Glasgow's online interview.

Glasgow’s official guidance explains both the practical arrangements and the professional standards expected during its online interviews.

Before Your Interview

  • Check the email address used in your UCAS application.
  • Check your spam folder for invitations.
  • Follow the date, time and instructions in your invitation.
  • Review the interview guidance carefully.
  • Contact admissions promptly if you require interview adjustments.

Glasgow aims to give at least 10 days’ notice where possible, although some late-November interviews may have a minimum of seven days’ notice.

During Your Interview

Glasgow prohibits:

  • Sharing interview questions or scenarios with others
  • Using AI software during the interview
  • Using smartphones, other electronic devices or written resources
  • Recording the interview

The interview necessarily uses the authorised online equipment; the prohibition concerns unauthorised devices and resources. Follow the instructions in your invitation.

Glasgow regards breaches of its confidentiality guidance as an issue of fitness to practise that could jeopardise an offer.

“Fit to sit”: seek support before your interview

Glasgow states that applicants declare themselves “fit to sit” when undertaking the interview. If you are unwell or experiencing significant difficulties, contact admissions promptly and consult the university’s rescheduling and support guidance before proceeding.

Read Glasgow’s Official Interview, Rescheduling and Support Guidance or contact med-sch-admissions@glasgow.ac.uk.

Prepare for a real conversation, not a memorised performance.

Glasgow's interview gives you the opportunity to discuss your motivation, reflect on teamwork and explain your approach to an ethical situation.

At MediBrain UK, we help you develop the confidence to do that naturally.

Through structured teaching, thoughtful discussion and constructive feedback, you can practise expressing your ideas clearly while staying true to your own experiences.
